I’m particularly interested in contestant – Melinda Lee Chen Ling, 2nd Runner Up of Miss World Malaysia 2015 and Miss Social Media Queen (Miss Malaysia Facebook Queen) to be exact. I believes Facebook likes is a very good representation of who people actually really like and you can’t like the same person twice. That is a good anti manipulation mechanism. More than 15,000 people voted for it. That is a way better representational than say 5-10 professional judges. I must also applause the organizer’s way of separating the voting to 3 different albums, namely – Casual, Dress and Swimsuit. It makes manipulation more difficult.
I think Melinda Lee Chen Ling’s Miss Social Media Queen title is undisputed. She is definitively the champion in the poll of 15,000 people. I think the organizer gather by summing up all the number of likes in the Facebook Page Albums. Here is the result –

Normally, the ranking of each contestants in individual albums will not deviate much because if someone decides that he or she likes this person, they will go to the other albums and support the same person again. Along the way, they may drop 1-2 likes to other contestants. The consistent rankings are usually the most reliable figure.
If you look at the albums side by side, you will see Melinda Lee is always the leading one and then followed by Natasha Aprillia JS Benggon and Brynn Lovett. And the next closing in is Summer Chia.
But, along the way, there will be noticeable deviation, like how could Serene Chai who scores the highest in the Swimsuit album with 4978 likes, only managed to get 77 likes on the Dress Album against Melinda’s 2203 likes, and 842 likes on the Casual Album against Melinda’s 3374 likes?
To me, this is a battle between Melinda Lee Chen Ling, Natasha Aprillia JS Benggon and Brynn Lovett and also maybe Summer Chia.
To me, Miss Social Media Queen title is a big deal and probably the most significant title of all. It means out of 15,000 people who voted, most people liked her and most people want her to be Miss World Malaysia 2015. Her position in top 3 must be guaranteed. She is Melinda Lee Chen Ling.
So when the official results came, as a fan I’m happy and a bit disappointed. She got Miss Social Media Queen, that is already well expected, and she gets 2nd Runner Up. I’m happy that she gets into top 3, as expected but I think she will be a well deserved 1st runner up or even the winner. To me, she is already my Miss World Malaysia 2015. Brynn Zalina Lovett is a well deserving winner too.
